Trouble using a P&E BDM interface on a 9S12DXC32

Postby jsteele » Fri Dec 22, 2006 8:10 pm

Hi,

I have been using a P&E Micro Multilink Rev B BDM interface to a Nanocore 9S12DXC32 (from Tech Arts) for about four days. Suddenly today, I got a message saying "Communication to the target failed (target MCU has no clock or wrong BDM clock speed is used or derivative is secured!)".

I happen to have another DX available so I plugged the BDM into that board and the P&E indicated that it was in communication with the DX, so I don't believe it's the BDM interface.

Has anyone had any experience with this problem? Anyone have thought on what might have caused it? Is there anyway to troubleshoot this situation?

Thanks,
jsteele

Typical symptom to this problem of yours
1. Secured MCU accidentally or deliberate. You need to download the unsecure utility from P&E

2. Power problem. I am sure you checked that.
3. MCU is static zapped.
4. Is the module plug into your circuit? If so check the module without your circuit.

I suspect it might be static zapped, winter being the worst for this static zapping problem.
